How to create content that actually ranks

Charlie, Head of SEO · 7 May 2026 · 6 min read

Most "SEO content" fails because it is written for a crawler that stopped existing years ago. Google now rewards the page that most completely and credibly answers the query. Here is how we brief content that ranks.

Start from the query, not the keyword

A keyword is a string. A query is a person with a job to do. Before writing a word, we answer: what does someone searching this actually want — to buy, to compare, to fix something themselves? The format follows the intent.

Cover the question completely

Open the top five results and list every sub-question they answer between them. Your page should answer all of them, plus the obvious follow-up nobody covered. Completeness is the single biggest ranking lever we see.

Earn the trust signals

First-hand experience, named authors, real numbers, and specifics beat generic advice. "We tested this on 40 accounts" outranks "studies show".

Then do the boring bits

One clear H1, descriptive headings, internal links to the money pages, fast load. None of it rescues thin content, but all of it compounds good content.
