Service 01
Full Restorations
We follow a meticulous, comprehensive process to bring a sash window back to the highest possible functionality, appearance and structural integrity.
The Work
A full restoration is the complete treatment. We put the time and effort into getting the preparation right, then work through every stage — repairs, putties, rebalancing, draught proofing, hardware and redecoration — so the finished window glides smoothly, seals properly and looks the way it was meant to.
It’s almost always cheaper than replacement, and it keeps the original character and joinery of your period home intact.
Common signs you need this
- Sashes painted shut, stuck or dropping
- Cold draughts and rattling in the wind
- Flaking paint and soft, damp timber
- Windows that have never worked properly
What’s Included

by hand.
Every job is delivered to the same heritage standard, by people who genuinely specialise in period windows.
- Preparation — paint stripped back to bare wood, damage identified, then sanded smooth for crisp lines and detail hidden under years of paint
- Rot & damage repairs — hardwood or seasoned timber let in, secured and sealed with the Dry Flex wood-care system
- Putties — glass removed and reseated to address anything behind it, with precise new putty lines
- Rebalancing & rehanging — weights corrected and rehung on traditional waxed cotton sash cord for smooth, durable movement
- Draught proofing — staff and parting beads inlaid with draught pile, plus a seal at the meeting rails
- Hardware — pulleys, handles, hinges and fasteners lubricated, repaired or replaced
- Redecoration — finished in the Zinsser All Coat range for a bright, durable, low-maintenance finish
